First workshop
21 February 2022 - 6 March 2022
Overall takeaway: What I've learned was that things might not go according to plan in business (and in life), but taking action gets you out of your situation. Dwelling on it doesn't!
Felix Natura held our first workshop on 2nd March 2022.
There were several challenged faced when we were running this workshop: 1) Kelvin, Stevenson, Jyn and Gabriel were COVID positive so only Nigel, Richmond and I conducted the workshop. 2) Securing space 3) Marketing & Attracting attendees 4) Facilitating the workshop
For 1, the initial plan was for Stevenson and Nigel to be in charge of the workshop. Unfortunately, things don't always go according to plan as most of our team were down with COVID. But, we didn't let that deter us from postponing the workshop and made use of whatever/whoever that could be there. Jyn and Gabriel helped out with the operations aspect and stayed in another room, while Richmond, Nigel and I were in a separate room with the workshop participants to conduct it.
For 2, finding and securing a space was pretty difficult as each venue is different and may not always suit our specific needs; after much contemplation and thinking about the relevant venues that were available to us, Nigel was able to help us secure a room @Hive.
For 3, How were we going to market for the workshop? We made sure to ensure that marketing was done early and often and have a clear strategy to start. With this, we decided to cold call (similar strategy with our b2b side), and managed get WePack onboard with us for the workshop.
For 4, this has been a challenge that my team had greatly considered about when planning for the workshop, and hence we all went to a terrarium workshop together, as seen from my previous blog, to learn more about how to facilitate the groups. During the actual workshop, we practiced the skills from what we've learnt from our workshop experience to guide the attendees. Thankfully, it turned out a success from their feedbacks on site! :)
I'd say this workshop was a success as there were no mishaps. The feedback from our participants were great too as they said it was rather fun/chill and they learnt a lot about terrariums and the different types of plants.
