First batch of products
27 December 2021- 9 January 2022
Since our supplies have arrived and we've launched on our website, I went to Jewel Airport to film a TikTok with my friend for our social media content. Why Jewel? Through some research, I found that it houses more than 2,000 trees and palms and over 100,000 shrubs; not to mention its gardens and vast greenery. As such, I felt that it would be a great filming site as it suits our business.
Went to a restaurant and decided to film there. To our surprise, the waiter there (and even passerby) were interested in the terrarium! Here's the waiter asking for our website and Instagram to check out our terrariums. I was pretty excited (and happy) since it was a stranger wanting to get to know our products rather than from our friends or family.
After several hours, my friend and I managed to film some content for our social media sites. We faced with several issues, from the box being too big to having no instruction manual, all of which I've provided to the team as feedback and thus, our team now provides various sized boxes (depending on the customer's order), and sleeves which contain the instruction manual on how to build our terrarium.
Overall, I think that the social media aspect on our terrarium did fairly well, from giveaways to Instagram reels. Thus far, we witnessed an increase in follower count by 58% since our first post! :)
Apart from that, the feedback from my side of the control group was that they had a great experience building our terrarium. But when asked on the improvements that we could make, they all said that:
Good to provide tools for them to build the terrarium
Good to have an instruction manual (addressed)
Packaging/user experience when opening the box could be better
For 1, we've decided to provide users with biodegradable spoon and gloves. For 3, I suggested to the team for us to use fillers (shredded papers), which we have been doing up to this date and in the future. Unfortunately, the timing to get the fillers on time for Christmas at a cheaper price will not be possible as it would take about a month. Hence, I went to several craft stores to source for more cheaper fillers. Thereafter, our fillers will be placed online.
Came here after researching about where to get shredded papers online.
Went all over the store to look at materials we could use to incorporate into our product.
Found the fillers! There was a variety to choose from. However, they were all too expensive.
Decided to head over to DAISO to look for a cheaper alternative as the fillers were $6-$9 for 1.
Saw online that 1 bag was $2 at DAISO and think that it was relatively cheap due to our time constrain.
However, they were out of stock!
Came here without much expectations as it was just a shop beside DAISO.
Thankfully, they sold the fillers.
I think its interesting as before, I didn't really pay attention to the fillers in my packaging when I buy products. So, it's nice to see how different fillers are being priced.
After much contemplation, I decided to get 3 red (56.6g at $5.50) and 3 brown (40g @ $3 each) since its cheaper than Art Friend. Brown as it follows our brand image (standard orders) and red for our Christmas orders.
